Under the SPA’s 14 August 2026 precautionary measures, suspended platforms keep one door open: players withdrawing their funds. Nothing else. Suspension is not revocation; the licence stands while the sanctioning process runs. The ordinance passages this desk read fix no length for that window, so what happens to my money when a bet is suspended in Brazil is: withdraw it.
Which suspension are we talking about?
The Secretaria de Prêmios e Apostas (SPA), the Finance Ministry’s betting regulator, has three instruments that look alike from a bettor’s screen, and the courts have a fourth. This desk read the two ordinances that define them on 11 September 2026, on the LegisWeb mirrors of the DOU text.

The R$5,000,000 reserva financeira and the R$30,000,000 paid-in capital sit in Portaria SPA/MF 827/2024, art. 11 III and IV, as conditions of authorization, subject to art. 14 and the separate payment-transactions regulation. Nothing in the article read calls the reserve a fund that pays balances out to bettors, and this post does not either. The LegisWeb page also notes Instrução Normativa MF/SPA 35 of 3 December 2025, so the ordinance has been amended; the consolidated figures were not independently confirmed.
Can I withdraw my money if a betting site is suspended in Brazil?
In the SPA’s 14 August 2026 wave, yes: the orders stipulate that the suspended platforms maintain access only for players to withdraw their funds, per iGB’s report of the regulator’s note. That is a term of those orders. Portaria 1.233/2024 itself, in the passages this desk read, sets no general rule guaranteeing withdrawals during a precautionary measure, and art. 31 II lets the SPA suspend prize payment as a measure.
Withdrawal access is what the regulator chose to preserve this time, not a right the ordinance spells out. What makes the operator honour it is art. 33: a multa cominatória of R$10,000 to R$200,000 per day for ignoring a precautionary measure, from the first business day after the SPA’s compliance deadline. iGB’s 18 August 2026 report puts the August fine at the top of that band, R$200,000 a day. In May 2025 iGB reported a possible R$40,000 daily fine; the SPA sets the amount per order within the band.
What is the difference between a suspension and a licence revocation by the SPA?
A precautionary suspension under art. 31 of Portaria 1.233/2024 is a protective step taken before or during a sanctioning process; the authorization stands. Suspension as a penalty, art. 29 IV, is a sanction capped at 180 days. Cassação, art. 29 V, ends the authorization altogether. The 14 brands hit on 14 August 2026 are in the first category: still authorized operators, under precautionary measures, as reported.
This is why the wording in our own account of the 14-platform wave said “suspension orders” and not “licences pulled”. Per iGB, the August measures rest on arts. 44 to 46 of Lei 14.790/2023 and arts. 31 to 33 of the ordinance, follow sanctioning processes opened in August 2025, and are not penalties yet.
Are open bets paid out when the SPA suspends a bet?
The ordinance, in the passages this desk read, does not answer this in general terms. Art. 31 II of Portaria 1.233/2024 lists temporary suspension of prize payment as one of the measures the SPA may choose, and art. 32 allows retention of prizes on a specific event under match-fixing suspicion. Whether prizes on open bets are paid therefore depends on which measures a given order applies. The August 2026 order, as reported, addressed withdrawal access and did not state a prize rule.
What the 2024 exit tells a bettor about 2026
The one hard money deadline the regulator wrote into the record was for operators leaving the market. Portaria SPA/MF 1.475/2024, per the Chambarelli Advogados summary this desk read (the DOU text was not fetched), required companies to return bettors’ deposits on request, allowed withdrawal directly on the site until 10 October 2024, and scheduled blocking of non-conforming sites from 11 October 2024. For a licensed bet under a cautelar, no such date exists in the passages read: the window is open until it is not.
Which betting sites are currently suspended in Brazil?
This desk can only say which were named. iGB’s 18 August 2026 report lists Pixbet Soluções Tecnológicas, Zeroumbet Digital Platform, Enseada Serviços e Tecnologia, Select Operations and RR Participações among the companies under the 14 August measures, with 14 bet.br brands in total. Reinstatements since that date were not checked for this piece; a court order can change a status within a day, as Pixbet showed twice in 2025.
Pixbet is the worked example for the last row. Per iGB’s 2 June 2025 report, its April 2025 suspension lasted less than a day after a federal judge overturned its effects, and its 30 May 2025 suspension ended with a preliminary injunction. Two of the August 2026 measures name Pixbet again, and a separate juvenile-court order blocked its domains nationwide on 2 September. Its status on any day is whichever order was signed last.
So what happens to my money when a bet is suspended in Brazil?
Withdraw it. Confirm the operator was authorized at all through the ANGB register; a site that was never on the list is in the exit row, not the cautelar row. If the withdrawal does not arrive, Consumidor.gov.br or Fala.BR puts a dated record in front of the regulator, and art. 33’s daily fine is the lever the SPA holds.
